Our Story

LASER YOGA MEDIA

Home of Laser Yoga Media,  Labrecque Art and Film, Depressing Prospects Films, The Atheist Alien Clothing Co., and the Science Boobies Podcast

Started by avantgarde writer/filmmaker Brian Labrecque, these cutting-edge short films, animated videos, and books are meant to stretch the mind and make you think, or laugh, or both.

Brian Labrecque is an avantgarde independent filmmaker living on Cape Cod.
He is known for his gender-bending films such as 2004's Far Too Gone, which tells the story of Josh, a strange guy in Seattle who thinks he's Tori Amos.

2006 saw the release of his short film Meeting Hillary, which told the story of two young witches in a battle to the death. In 2007, he released Fear of Lemonade, an epic mind-bending psychotronic film about a shisha addict who is tormented by a Girl Scout from Hell.

In 2010, the epic graphic novel "Effing Brutal" was released as a book AND video graphic novel DVD, the story is the continuation and full realization of the adventures of Josh and his army of losers!
For 2011,  Depressing Prospects released Deliriotic, a psychotronic short film about journeys into another dimension.

In 2012, a name change to "Labrecque Art and Film" and the introduction of the first spoken-word sci-fi film "Your Words are Like Swords", which broke the mold of genre and visualization and was ALSO made into a book!  A few years later "Tachyonic Anti-Telephone" was released, a metphysical time-travel film which asks questions and does not give answers.

In 2017, the new book "Conversations from the Fucking Future" hits the bookstore shelves. This book is a true collection of conversations from our soon-to-be dystopian future!

Time for a new name for the company: Laser Yoga Media!

In 2018 the avantgarde love story “How to Catch a Faery with a Bottle of Tequila” was released under the new Laser Yoga imprint, no doubt to universal acclaim. It tells the story of Jimmy, an ambitionless office drone in his late 40s, who is depressed that his ex-girlfriend got hit by a bus AFTER she dumped him. Listless and languid, he is forced into a day of adventure with his loser friend Leon. After a busy morning of self-discovery, hi-jinks and intentional fever-dreams in the back woods of Cape Cod, they bump into a mysterious woodland faery, who's true identity and purpose will change their lives forever. . A great story and a wonderful transgender LGBT water-cooler story.

Self-taught and a devout follower of John Waters , Don Coscarelli and Mike Judge, he never attended film school and has never been to a writing workshop.
He denounces formal film school training and writing classes as "emasculating" and like "trying to become smarter by getting a lobotomy". His films have won critical acclaim from film festivals as diverse as the Southside Film Festival in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Festival Du Cinema De Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium.
